Stuff the Truck for a Cause: Join Dorchester Habitat on June 14 at Lowe’s!

Jun 1, 2025 | Donate

On Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dorchester Habitat for Humanity is rolling out an opportunity to make a difference—one donation at a time. Join us for our Stuff the Truck event at Lowe’s (9600 Dorchester Road in Summerville) and be part of something that directly impacts families and strengthens our community.

What is Stuff the Truck?

Stuff the Truck is more than just a donation drive—it’s a powerful way for neighbors to come together and support the mission of building affordable housing for families in Dorchester County. We’ll have one of our ReStore trucks parked and ready to be filled with your gently used home goods, tools, furniture, and building materials.

Whether you’re downsizing, decluttering, or replacing items around the house, your donations can find new life. They can fuel homebuilding efforts and help families achieve the stability and independence of homeownership.

How Your Donations Make a Difference

Every donated item supports Dorchester Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used items to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore go directly into building safe, affordable housing in our community.

Your generosity helps us:

  • Fund the construction of Habitat homes for local families in need
  • Keep usable goods out of landfills, contributing to a greener community
  • Provide a low-cost shopping resource for residents and homeowners

What Can You Donate?

We’re looking for:

  • Gently used furniture (couches, chairs, dressers, etc.)
  • Appliances in working condition
  • Tools and hardware
  • Lighting fixtures
  • Cabinets and countertops
  • Building materials
  • Home décor and more!

Please note: We cannot accept items in poor condition.

A Benefit to You, Too

By donating during Stuff the Truck, you’re not just giving things away—you’re investing in a future where everyone has a decent place to live. Plus, all donations are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive a receipt on-site for your contribution.

This is also a great way to teach children about generosity, community service, and sustainable living—so bring the whole family!

See You There!

Mark your calendar and tell your friends! Join us at Lowe’s in Summerville on Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Let’s Stuff the Truck with purpose and build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
