Requirements & Guidelines

At Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, our mission to provide affordable housing in Dorchester County is made possible by the dedication of our construction volunteers, ReStore volunteers, and corporate home sponsors. Every volunteer hour and every sponsorship dollar contributes to building safe, stable homes for hardworking families. Corporate home sponsorships provide essential funding while volunteers bring these homes to life—logging thousands of hours to reduce labor costs by $70,000 per home.

Together, we are not just building houses—we are creating hope, strengthening neighborhoods, and transforming lives. Join us in making a lasting impact!

Endless Volunteer Opportunities

We have a place for you if you are interested in construction work or home repair efforts! Habitat has many volunteer opportunities for individuals, corporations, businesses, faith communities, and local organizations to volunteer together. Sponsorship opportunities are available and include additional benefits.

Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers 18+ or 16 years of age (with a guardian/parent) are permitted on the construction site. Volunteers 16+ or 14-15 years old (with a guardian/parent) are welcome to volunteer in the ReStore. All volunteers must schedule activities through the Volunteer Coordinator, as we cannot take walk-on volunteers. We want to ensure everyone who volunteers with us has a pleasant and rewarding experience, so we try to schedule in advance to avoid overcrowding or confusion.

Groups of 10 or more should email us to reserve their volunteer time. No experience is necessary to volunteer in the ReStore or on the construction site. Volunteer Waiver for over 18 can be viewed here. If you are under 18, you can view the Volunteer Waiver here.

Requirements, Guidelines & Scheduling

Our volunteers at the ReStore have many roles to fill, including providing helpful customer service, creating DIY projects and displays, repairing furniture, and organizing inventory. We’ll find a place where you’ll fit in and a role that interests you.

Want to Volunteer?

Volunteers 14 years and older are welcome to volunteer at the ReStore. However, all volunteers must schedule their activities through the Volunteer Coordinator or online through the calendar, as we cannot take walk-on volunteers. We want to ensure everyone who volunteers with us has a pleasant and rewarding experience, so we try to schedule in advance to avoid overcrowding or confusion.
