Volunteer With Habitat for Humanity in Dorchester County

Dorchester Habitat for Humanity has volunteer opportunities in Summerville, SC, and across Dorchester County for anyone who wants to help build homes. You can volunteer on a build (build sites are around the county, and the address comes with your scheduled build week), at our ReStore at 101 Greyback Road in Summerville, or at special events, and every volunteer hour helps build safe, stable homes for hardworking families. We welcome individuals, businesses, faith communities and local organizations, and no experience is necessary to volunteer in the ReStore or on the construction site.

Here is how to volunteer on a build or at the ReStore: pick a date and time on the calendar on our build volunteer page or our ReStore volunteer page. We can’t take walk-on volunteers, so please schedule ahead. Construction-site volunteers must be at least 16, and 16- and 17-year-olds volunteer with a parent or guardian; ReStore volunteers must be at least 14, and 14- and 15-year-olds come with a parent or guardian. The waiver and group details are below.

Requirements & Guidelines

At Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, our mission to provide affordable housing in Dorchester County is made possible by the dedication of our construction volunteers, ReStore volunteers, and corporate home sponsors. Every volunteer hour and every sponsorship dollar contributes to building safe, stable homes for hardworking families. Corporate home sponsorships provide essential funding while volunteers bring these homes to life—logging thousands of hours to reduce labor costs by $70,000 per home.

Together, we are not just building houses—we are creating hope, strengthening neighborhoods, and transforming lives. Join us in making a lasting impact!

Endless Volunteer Opportunities

We have a place for you if you are interested in construction work or home repair efforts!
